Why are We?

Çanakkale Onsekiz March University, which is located in a geography that has cost history with values such as Troy, Assos, Gallipoli, Kaz Mountains, Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park, Gökçeada, Bozcaada and the Dardanelles Strait and is one of the two cities of our country that pass through the sea, is waiting for new students in the new academic year.

Located on lands that have hosted important civilizations in history, Çanakkale is a city decorated with geographical and natural beauties that people from Europe to Australia are interested in and want to visit from all over the world, while being a world city in this aspect.

In Çanakkale, which bears the traces of history and culture and where the theme “city of peace and culture” is adapted to daily life, the tolerant and libertarian attitude shown by the people to differences, a warm and friendly urban environment for students who come to study, extensive social opportunities, provides trouble-free housing opportunities, while also making it possible for students to live in a comfortable and peaceful environment.

Çanakkale, which is located at almost equal distance to the cities around it and is on average 300 kilometers away from cities such as Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, is also in an advantageous position in terms of transportation. At the same time, there are also direct flights to Istanbul and Ankara from all over Turkey.

With the influence of the Kaz Mountains located within the borders of Çanakkale province and considered a world heritage site, the property of Çanakkale, 54% of which is forest, to have clean air in all seasons, is also manifested on the COMU Campuses. All these features of Çanakkale, also known as the place where the amenities of a big city and the advantages of a small city combine, carry Çanakkale to more preferable points among crowded and expensive provinces.

And also Biga, which is one of the most developed districts of Turkey, is progressing towards becoming a student-oriented district every passing year with our faculty, which it has been hosting for more than 25 years.  In Ağaköy, where our faculty is located, dormitory and accommodation facilities, as well as cafe and restaurant facilities are gradually increasing. On the other hand, there are transportation services between Biga and our Agakoy campus on a continuous basis. Our Biga district has access to metropolitan cities such as Bursa and Izmir by road, as well as access to Istanbul both via the Lapseki 18 Mart Bridge and via the Bandirma-Yenikapi Seabus. The distance of Biga to the center is 96 km. 

About Biga IIBF and Public Administration Department


The department includes a 4-year Undergraduate education and an optional 1-year foreign language education. In addition to 26 classrooms and 5 amps in an indoor area of 25,600 m2 at the campus, there is a computer laboratory, a library equipped with a computer, an indoor gym with a capacity of 1000 spectators, a conference room for 550 people, a health center, a dining hall, a canteen, a patisserie, stationery, an Internet cafe, a cash machine, etc. there are facilities.

The Department of Public Administration, which operates within the body of ÇOMU Biga IIBF, has been providing services in the direction of training the workforce needed in public institutions and the private sector with its academic staff and stakeholders who are experts in their field since 1995. The main goal of the Department of Public Administration is to provide good political, social and legal knowledge to its students who aim to work as an administrator, civil administration supervisor, administrative judge, expert or inspector in public or private sector organizations. The department aims to approach public administration, politics, law and urbanization and environmental problems with a multi-faceted perspective. It is considered that significant progress will be achieved by taking into account the opinions and suggestions of public administrators at the point of identifying problems and developing solution proposals.

The Department of Public Administration aims to educate individuals who are equipped with modern information and who can closely monitor national and international developments in both economics and politics. The Department of Public Administration is divided into four separate departments: Administrative Sciences, Sciences of Law, Urbanization and Environmental Problems, and Political and Social Sciences.

Graduates of the department can be employed in positions such as administrative judicial judge, governor, specialty, inspector, civil administration supervisor, as well as they can work in domestic and international departments of Cumhurbaşkanlığı Strateji ve Bütçe Başkanlığı, Sayıştay, Rekabet Kurumu and similar public institutions.

Graduates can work in areas related to the financial sector, such as public and private sector banks, insurance companies, factoring organizations, as well as find the opportunity to work in different departments of other sectors. In addition to courses related to law, political science and public administration fields, courses related to business science are also offered in the Department of Public Administration. The knowledge they have acquired about management also aims to prepare our graduates as future managers.

Experienced and Expert Academic Staff

The fact that our department has a young academic staff is a great opportunity to transfer current knowledge, discussions and requirements of fields such as public administration, political science, local governments, urban and environmental policies and management sciences to students.

Our department supports optional internship applications and continues to cooperate with programs such as National Internship Mobility in this direction. Our department, which continues the national accreditation application process, has a functioning that protects its ties with its students and graduates outside of education and training activities. On the other hand, in the context of internationalization, students of the department of public administration can benefit from the opportunities of Erasmus+, Farabi and Mevlana exchange programs.
